One of Iowa’s oldest and largest youth-serving nonprofit organizations, YSS’s mission is to provide hope and opportunity by putting kids first. YSS offers education to build healthy mind and bodies; counseling to overcome life’s challenges; and stability to focus on the future.
Erik wants to invite you all to join him in donating to a cause that is near and dear to his family, Reggie’s Sleepout.
This event was created in 2005 in memory of Reggie Kelsey. Reggie was a young man who aged out of the foster care system in 2001, and within three and a half months, was found dead in the Des Moines River. As a result of Reggie’s death, Iowa Homeless Youth Centers, a YSS organization in Des Moines, led the effort to develop the Iowa Aftercare Services Network to provide services to those aging out of foster care.
YSS serves 10,000 kids and families each year, one a time. Reggie’s Sleepout fundraising goal of $200,000 will help save 100 lives this year to meet essential needs, provide advocacy and supportive housing.
In honor of Erik’s mom’s birthday, he wants to ask to you to please consider giving a charitable donation to support this incredible cause.
